Bloodstock

The Kelt family has been involved in Bloodstock sale and purchase, breeding and racing for four generations dating back to MJ Kelt, who raced horses with Sam’s father, Gordon. Sam, with his father, went on to breed, purchase and race horses together and now continues this legacy with his own family. They currently own two three-year olds and a yearling all of which were strategically purchased to race throughout Australasia in its ‘Classic’ races.

The Story of Gordon's

Sam and his father, Gordon, purchased the Dash / Kaapstad yearling filly at the 1999 Karaka Premier yearling sale. This was the last commercial transaction that Sam and Gordon did together as Gordon fell ill and passed away shortly after.

The filly was a descendent of the famous Agricolet family which Gordon had been involved with over a number of decades. Agricolet produced many group performing horses all of which were named after various drinks including Schenley, Tang, Lucozade, Schnapps, Seagers and others.

Sam named Gordon’s after his father and Gordon’s gin to reflect both his relationship with his father and to continue the drinks name dynasty.

Gordon had been a steward of Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club for over two decades and held an enormous ambition to win the Hawke’s Bay Cup. His previous best effort was a second with Dark Burn.

Gordon’s won the 2002 Group II Hawke’s Bay Cup.

Uderzo
